Change to Non-emergency police number

As of the 21st of September 2011, all non-emergency telephone calls to Cambridgeshire constabulary should be reported by dialing 101 the single non-emergency number in England and Wales. The system has been designed to recognise where the caller is dialing from and connect them with the local police service. The previous telephone number of 0345 456 456 4 will remain live for approx. 1 year.

What you can report using 101

Call 101 to contact the police to report less urgent crime and disorder or to speak to your local officers. For example, call 101:

if your car has been stolen
if your property has been damaged
if you suspect drug use or dealing in your local area
to report a minor traffic accident
to give the police information about crime in your area
to speak to the police about a general enquiry

When you should use 999 instead

In an emergency always call 999

You should call 999 if:

a crime is in progress
someone suspected of a crime is nearby
there is danger to life
violence is being used or threatened

If you call 101 but are reporting an emergency, you will be directed to the 999 service.

About Ashley is a village and local news magazine, which primarily reports on village functions and local activities. About Ashley Magazine The content is a mix of parish news, church activities, money matters, policing in the area, current activities, reports from Ashley clubs and societies and from time to time, items of historical interest.

It is published five times per year, in March, May, July, October and December. It is distributed free of charge to all households in Ashley itself, and is sent by post to a range of addresses which includes former Ashley residents and those connected with the village.

Burwell Village Community Print Centre Limited produce 300 copies per issue.

It is paid for: from advertising - many of the advertisers are local; from sponsorship by the page; and from occasional donations.

Geocaching

Geocaching is a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices and then share their experiences online.

Instead of just going for a walk, this activity gives you something to hunt for and it's fun for all the family. Children love to find the little treasures hidden in the boxes and the adults do too. If you like walking and want to have some fun on the way; read the simple rules regarding this activity by visiting the Geocaching website on the link below. There are caches in and around Ashley for you to find.
