The Ashley Village Fete was held on Saturday 2nd July 2011 and was a fabulous day!
The weather was kind and we raised over £2,000 which is brilliant, all for the Air Ambulance Service, the church and the youth club.

The dog show was very well attended, every rosette deserved, thank you to Carol who put in a lot of hard work to make that a success.

The theme for the fancy dress was nursery rhymes and the competition was won by Bill and Daisy who dressed up as Jack and Jill, congratulations, I’m sure the rendition helped. Some of the adults were dressed up too, what did you think of the mad hatter? Mad?!?....mmm.

The ‘Ashley’s Got Talent’ show was fabulous, it was great to see so many entries, and actually quite a lot of talent, well done Zak who won and all the other participants, it can take a lot of courage to stand up and sing and dance. And whatever Simon Cowell told you, forget it, I loved you all.

Moves Fitness had been taken over by Lady Gaga which I thought was quite a coup for a village fete, and yes they can move. Don’t forget you can catch them again Saturday mornings in the pavilion, but you would have to join in!

All the stalls and stands did well, the buckin’ bronco and bouncy slide were worn out. Don the duck made loads of friends in the pet’s corner. And the bar did not run dry.

The band rounded off the day in a more than rousing way. I’m sure we’ll see ‘Back to the Future’ again.

I know the organisers will be tying up loose ends and thanking all those who helped from cake bakers to car parkers.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the key people (who know who they are) who kept the spirit and the motivation and the energy to pull it off.

See you next year!
